Superman Family 219 Part 3: Jimmy Olsen

Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, what can I say I love the guy.  So let's check up on JIMMY OLSEN OF THE EAGLE.

Yep, Jimmy Olsen has left the friendly confines of the Daily Planet and gone to work for their arch-rival the Eagle.

At the Eagle, junior reporter Jimmy Olsen is kind of a big deal, as evidenced by his call from the White House.  As Jimmy would say ain't life grand.

We then get a little reader feeder to let us know that Perry White is really upset about Jimmy jumping ship to the Eagle and Jimmy reacts in the most self-centered was imaginable.

Jimmy goes on a lunch date but an unseen figure watches his every move.

Step two!  What could that mean?  Wait a second I think I recognize those gloves, it's Jean Loring.   Run Jimmy she's going to walk on your brain.

Jump ahead several hours, no really jump ahead several hours they wrote that, and Jimmy goes to the scene of a hostage situation.  Don't worry the cops have a plan, let Jimmy handle the hostage negotiation.

As you can imagine that doesn't go so well so Jimmy activates his signal watch and you know who comes to save the day.

Back at the Eagle Jimmy's editor gives him a new assignment discover Superman's secret identity.    Jimmy's response, "I'll do it!"

And so later that night.... wait what.  Jimmy's perfect life isn't real it's all been the first step in Brain Storm's plan to destroy Superman.  Didn't he say he was about to advance to step two earlier?

Hold on one second if this was all some kind of dream like fantasy for Jimmy then why would he give his editor thought bubbles???

I do like the use of Brain Storm.  I mean look at that head gear who wouldn't love a costume like that?  Also van dyke so you know he's evil.

Great art, interesting story with folks acting out of character for an in story reason.  Take notes modern writers.

As a reminder, letter pages used to include your full address to make it easier for stalkers.

Look they got a letter from "THE FISH" of Silver Spring Maryland.  Unless someone can prove to me this wasn't Abe Vigoda, I'm just going to ignore the "THE" in "THE FISH."  Well known fact, Abe Vigoda loves Supergirl.

Next time: Lois Lanes, no typo Lois Lanes.
